Our Philosophy

Lakay Sober Living was created through both clinical experience and creative passion. Mick Desrameaux, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, brings over ten years of expertise in substance abuse treatment. As the Clinical Director of a residential treatment center, he has helped countless individuals navigate recovery with structure, empathy, and professional care.

His wife, Chantel Desrameaux, works in capital construction systems as a technology consultant, helping manage and support the processes behind large scale building projects. Outside of her professional work, she has a deep passion for interior design and creating peaceful, intentional spaces. Chantel believed that recovery housing didn’t have to feel sterile or second-rate. Her design philosophy is rooted in the idea that peace flows both ways. When your environment is calm, it nurtures healing within. When your mind is at ease, it reflects in your surroundings.

Together, they created Lakay. No matter your past, you deserve a beautiful and respectful place to heal. Lakay was built to restore dignity, inspire growth, and remind every resident that they are worthy of a space that truly feels like home.

What Is Lakáy

Lakay (lah-KAI) means “home” in Haitian-Creole. But for us, Lakay is more than just a place. It’s a feeling, a family, and a foundation for new beginnings. It’s an acknowledgment, a bond, and a reminder that no one walks this journey alone.

At Lakay Sober Living, we bring that same spirit to recovery. We’re more than a sober house. We’re a family, a safe haven, a space where individuals rediscover their strength and rebuild their lives with dignity.
